On October 22, 2016 the Centennial Planetarium once again opened its doors to Canada’s cultural revolutionaries for LOOK2016, Contemporary Calgary’s premiere fundraiser. The evening consisted of a rousing live and silent art auction which alone raised over $295,000, and featured a conversation on the art of our times between entertainment legend Steve Martin and culture writer Adam Gopnik (The New Yorker), with some guests attending an exclusive pre-event VIP Dinner prepared by Brett McDermott (Our Daily Brett). Following the formal program, LOOK2016 transformed into The Factory Party, a riotous after party that attracted nearly 1,000 guests, filling the building with a fresh group of partiers paying as little as $25 to close out the party in Andy Warhol-inspired style.
On September 14, our friends at Holt Renfrew Calgary hosted a Private Shopping Night in support of LOOK2016. Holt Renfrew is a presenting sponsor of LOOK2016 being held on October 22 at the Centennial Planetarium. We felt incredibly welcome in their beautiful downtown location and grateful to have the opportunity to share Contemporary Calgary's story with their community.
Contemporary Calgary is thrilled to announce that Brett McDermott (Our Daily Brett) will join us as Executive Chef at the LOOK2016 pop up restaurant for VIP + Dinner ticket holders, and to prepare Warhol-inspired bites for our after party: The Factory Party, curated by The Modern Leisure.
