LOOK2016: Announcing Executive Chef, Brett McDermott

Contemporary Calgary is thrilled to announce that Brett McDermott (Our Daily Brett) will join us as Executive Chef at the LOOK2016 pop up restaurant for VIP + Dinner​ ticket holders, and to prepare Warhol-inspired bites for our after party: The Factory Party, curated by The Modern Leisure. Brett will draw inspiration from the LOOK2016 table concept design developed by his friend Steve Smee, who he has collaborated with on many occasions.

Brett McDermott is a Calgary-native and the chef proprietor of Our Daily Brett, a boutique market and catering company located in Bankview. After a “gap year” that involved surfing in Australia and a stint as a hostel bus driver, Brett studied business at St. Mary’s University, graduating with a bachelor of commerce degree in 2008. During his time in Halifax, Brett curated a monthly art party that combined showcasing the work of young, local artists (early evening) with enthusiastic dance parties (late evening). These humble beginnings sparked Brett’s love of events and entertaining. This interest was refined in to a career when Brett returned to Calgary after graduating and worked for a prominent Calgary catering company, a busy Calgary restaurant, and as a private chef. Brett's style of food has been further developed through travel - including 3 months living on an organic farm in up-country Maui, acting as a chef-in-residence at a boutique surf hotel in Nicaragua, and eating his way around countries like Denmark, Italy, and South Korea with his wife. Today Brett owns and operates Our Daily Brett, a bustling grab-and-go foods market and catering company.
