Cîpayak ᒌᐸᕀ: #FourWordsChallenge2

Planetary artist duo Cîpayak ᒌᐸᕀ challenge you to produce an artwork using four words—Portal, Ceremony, Mêmêkwêsiw (one of the sacred little people) and Dream—inspired from their artworks Mêmêkwêsiw | Kahkakiw Nâpesis | Roogaroo (One of the sacred little people | Raven Boy, Trickster | Shapeshifter) on display in our Ring Gallery. Use these words to help unleash your creativity and inspire an artwork of your own. Share your creations by tagging @ContemporaryCalgary on instagram using #FourWordsChallenge2.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Cîpayak ᒌᐸᕀ shares a story in which Mêmêkwêsiw (one of the sacred little people), Kahkakiw Nâpesis (raven boy, trickster) and Roogaroo (werewolf, shape shifter) are creatures who invite us to their realm to learn valuable medicine and to inform us that our polluting and destructive ways are harming them as well.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Cîpayak ᒌᐸᕀ is the multimedia collaboration between Shane Ghostkeeper and Sarah Houle. Their projects continue to evolve through art, sound and visuals. Cîpayak ᒌᐸᕀ delves into the many layers of contemporary Indigenous storytelling through interactive multidisciplinary concepts.
