Synopsis

After making horror history with BASKET CASE and BRAIN DAMAGE, the incomparable Frank Henenlotter unleashed FRANKENHOOKER—the greatest transmutation of Mary Shelley’s FRANKENSTEIN that you’ll ever see. After accidentally murdering the love of his life, Jeffrey Franken decides to reanimate her with the help of a drug named Supercrack . . . and the body parts of a dozen streetwalkers. Feeling like a twisted mash-up between John Waters’s SERIAL MOM and Stuart Gordon’s RE-ANIMATOR, FRANKENHOOKER is a bad taste triumph that revels in sublime camp, gloopy gore, and neon-soaked dreamscapes. Plus an iconic performance by Patty Mullen as the eponymous title character.

Drag Me to the Movies: Stampede Edition

Best Little Wh*rehouse in Texas

July 13 | 7:00 PM – 2:00 AM

Howdy, y'all! Welcome to the first-ever Calgary edition of Drag Me to the Movies. All the way from the bustlin' metropolis of Toronto, Drag Me to the Movies host and curator Weird Alice (@dragmetothemovies) is flying out for a rootin' tootin' hollerin' good ol fashioned Stampede showdown. This evening will be co-hosted by none other than Calgary's own Lilith Fair! To kick off the series we're doing things Calgary style with a campy country classic "The Best Little Wh*rehouse in Texas" (1982).

What is Drag Me to the Movies? Why, it's only the best way to view a film! There will be drag performances, movie bingo, prizes, hilarious commentary, beer & cocktails from Annex Ale Project, and of course Dolly Parton & Burt Reynolds on the big screen in the ol' Planetarium. To cap it off you'll get a free late-night pancake breakfast compliments of Healthy Baby. Still don't think that's enough? Good, because after the show we'll have even MORE drag performances featuring Calgary's own Canada's Drag Race legend @thekaosofjesilo. With additional performances by local icons @lilithfairyyc and @who.is.indigo. Stick around after for a boot-scootin' boogie curated by the one and only DJ Molly Fi @mollyfi, a mini-market, drinks and a whole lot of two-steppin’. So put on your best country getup and come on down to Contemporary Calgary for our first-ever Drag Me to the Movies on July 13th!

Tickets are on sale now. This is an 18+ event. 10% of all ticket sales will be donated to a local charity in support of the 2SLBGTQ+ community. Charity TBC.

A special thanks to our sponsors without whom this event would not be possible Annex Ale Project & Lawrence Interior Design.
