VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteer Call-Out: Help Support Our New Exhibitions!
We’re excited to announce that we are seeking volunteers for two upcoming exhibitions:
Erik Olson: In the Garden
A stunning series of large-scale oil paintings inspired by Düsseldorf’s Hofgarten and created during the early days of the pandemic. Olson’s work explores themes of order, freedom, and dreamlike escape.
Preston Pavlis: You there
Through intimate portraits and poetic scenes drawn from his life in Halifax, Pavlis reflects on presence, absence, and quiet beauty in the everyday.
What will your role involve?
As an Exhibition Volunteer, you will play a key role in enhancing the visitor experience. You will assist visitors by engaging them in conversations about the artworks, helping them connect with the exhibition, and answering general questions. Your responsibilities will also include offering friendly guidance—such as clarifying which works are interactive and which are for viewing only—ensuring a welcoming atmosphere, and providing support as needed throughout the space.
What are the requirements?
We ask for volunteers to commit to at least one shift per week from August through November 9. Shifts are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 12-7 PM, and Sundays from 12-5 PM.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please submit your interest here.
We’d love to have your support — and this is a great chance to engage with two thoughtful, powerful exhibitions.
If you have any questions about this volunteer position, please reach out to Beth Kane, Manager, Visitor Experience, at beth@contemporarycalgary.com and Sabine Levesque at sabine@contemporarycalgary.com

Volunteer Call-Out: Be a Part of Entwined!
Contemporary Calgary is seeking enthusiastic exhibition volunteers to support our upcoming group exhibition, Entwined.
Entwined brings together Canadian artists from Alberta, the Prairies, and beyond to explore our relationship with the land and all living beings. Working across various materials and media, the artists featured in this exhibition reflect on urgent ecological issues and the interconnectedness of all species. Drawing from traditional knowledge, mythology, science, and imagination, the exhibition calls for a shift away from human-centred thinking toward a deeper sense of kinship, responsibility, and care for the natural world.

We’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable volunteers to join our Events Team at Contemporary Calgary!
As an Events Volunteer, you’ll help support a wide range of happenings — from gallery openings, artist talks, and film screenings to private rentals and community celebrations. No two events are the same, and neither are the roles! Tasks may include welcoming guests, assisting with check-in, providing wayfinding, or helping with set-up and takedown.
We’re looking for team players who enjoy connecting with people and are open to jumping in wherever help is needed. If you’re adaptable, friendly, and excited to be part of Calgary’s vibrant arts and culture scene, we’d love to hear from you.
