VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

CALL FOR PRESENCE EXHIBITION VOLUNTEERS

July - November 9th

We’re excited to announce that we are seeking volunteers for our upcoming group exhibition Presence, featuring Abbas Akhavan, Ghazaleh Avarzamani, Tamara Lee-Anne Cardinal, Christine Howard Sandoval, Jayce Salloum, Linda Sormin, and Badlands Art Residency x Lindsay Sutton.

Presence is a powerful group exhibition that brings together the different perspectives of each artist to explore how we live in and shape the spaces around us, and how those spaces influence our sense of community. Through diverse artworks reflecting on placemaking, collective experience, and the evolving definitions of community, the exhibition invites visitors to engage deeply with the everyday ways we exist within and transform our environments. As an Exhibition Volunteer, you’ll help support the show and make sure visitors have a great experience exploring these important ideas. It’s a chance to be part of something meaningful and connect with art that speaks to everyday life and community.

What will your role involve?

As an Exhibition Volunteer, you will play a key role in enhancing the visitor experience. You will assist visitors by engaging them in conversations about the artworks, helping them connect with the exhibition, and answering general questions. Your responsibilities will also include offering friendly guidance—such as clarifying which works are interactive and which are for viewing only—ensuring a welcoming atmosphere, and providing support as needed throughout the space.

What are the requirements?

We ask for volunteers to commit to at least one shift per week from August through November 9. Shifts are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 12-7 PM, and Sundays from 12-5 PM.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please submit your interest here by Thursday, August 21.

Note: Volunteer Training will take place on Friday, August 29, 3:00 – 4:00 PM. All Volunteers must attend.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Beth Kane Manger, Visitor Experience at beth@contemporarycalgary.com and Sabine Levesque at sabine@contemporarycalgary.com

Contemporary Calgary is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful volunteer community and encourages applications from all individuals.

Join our Events Volunteer Team!

We’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable volunteers to join our Events Team at Contemporary Calgary!

As an Events Volunteer, you’ll help support a wide range of happenings — from gallery openings, artist talks, and film screenings to private rentals and community celebrations. No two events are the same, and neither are the roles! Tasks may include welcoming guests, assisting with check-in, providing wayfinding, or helping with set-up and takedown.

We’re looking for team players who enjoy connecting with people and are open to jumping in wherever help is needed. If you’re adaptable, friendly, and excited to be part of Calgary’s vibrant arts and culture scene, we’d love to hear from you.
