LOOK VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

LOOK26 Gala: Off The Path, presented by MAWER, returns on May 2 for an unforgettable night of revelry. Brought to life by the talented minds of local artist duo DaveandJenn, Off The Path draws on their richly layered practice spanning painting, sculpture and moving image. Their work creates whimsical worlds filled with delight, enchantment and untamed life.

EXHIBITION VOLUNTEERS

In the weeks leading up to LOOK26 Gala: Off The Path, the Art Auction exhibition will be on view, giving guests and potential bidders the opportunity to experience the works in person ahead of the live auction. By supporting the LOOK Art Auction exhibition, you will be directly contributing to the success of our annual fundraiser.

What will your role involve?
Exhibition Volunteers will engage guests in conversation about the auction artworks, share insights about the exhibition, and help visitors navigate our online auction platform (Givergy). We are seeking a dedicated team of volunteers who are passionate about contemporary art, excited about fundraising, and enjoy creating welcoming, engaging experiences for gallery visitors.

What are the requirements?
Exhibition Volunteers will commit to at least one shift per week during the LOOK Art Auction exhibition opening April. Shifts follow our standard exhibition schedule: Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 12–7 PM, and Sundays from 12–5 PM. In addition to these shifts, volunteers have the opportunity to support the exhibition during the gala event on May 2 from 5 PM–midnight.

EVENT VOLUNTEERS

As a part of the LOOK26 Events team, you’ll help power one of Contemporary Calgary’s most exciting nights of the year and help create an exceptional guest experience. By supporting the LOOK Events team you will be directly contributing to the success of our annual fundraiser!

What will your role involve?
Volunteers will provide general event support in a variety of roles throughout the evening. Responsibilities may include coat check, selling drink tickets, bussing and re-setting tables, wayfinding, managing lost and found, and more.

What are the requirements?
We’re looking for individuals who thrive in vibrant, fast-paced event environments and genuinely enjoy being part of something big, bold, and creative. If you’ve previously volunteered at Contemporary Calgary or worked and/or volunteered at large-scale events such as Sled Island, Folk Fest, Comic Con, Stampede, or similar high-energy festivals, we’d love to hear from you. Experience with Square or other POS systems is an asset, but what matters most is your enthusiasm, reliability, and ability to stay calm, positive, and guest-focused in a lively setting. LOOK is immersive, interactive, and full of movement — we’re seeking volunteers who bring warmth, adaptability, and great energy to match the spirit of the night. Volunteers must have evening availability on May 2nd, 2026.

Contemporary Calgary is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful volunteer community, and we encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds. Please note that this is an 18+ event; applicants must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer for these roles.

If you have any questions about any of the volunteer positions listed here, please reach out to Sabine Levesque, Lead Gallery Attendant & Scheduling Coordinator, at sabine@contemporarycalgary.com
