NOTICE OF 2021 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Wednesday, October 6, 2020 at 5:00 pm

701 11 Street SW, Calgary, AB

Our Annual General Meeting will be held in-person. Masks are mandatory, and physical distancing will be maintained in seating arrangements. Contemporary Calgary requires visitors ages 12 and older to provide proof of vaccination, documentation of a medical exemption, or a negative PCR or rapid test within the last 72 hours in order to enter the gallery.

Should you wish to appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf, you may do so by completing a proxy ballot found here and submitting it to Board Vice Chair Peter Tertzakian via email agm@contemporarycalgary.com by 5 pm on October 5, 2021.


CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Starting September 1, 2021, applications will be accepted for service on the 2021/2022 Contemporary Calgary Arts Society Board of Directors. More information about the nomination process, candidate qualifications, and roles and responsibilities can be found below.

The election of the Board takes place during the Annual General Meeting on October 6, 2021. In order to participate in and vote at the AGM, members must have an active membership by September 15, 2021

The Governance, HR & Nominating Committee appreciates your participation in nominating energetic individuals who are qualified to assume a leadership role on the Board of Directors of Contemporary Calgary. Please note these are volunteer positions.

Nomination Process

Seven (7) directors will be elected to a two-year term on October 6, 2021, joining seven (7) directors currently midway through their term. 

If seven or more candidates apply, the Board will select the nominees for election by the membership. If less than seven candidates apply, the membership may consider nominations from the floor of the meeting.

Applications must be received by September 8, 2021 at 9:00 am. Late submission will not be accepted.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, candidates must be:

  • a member of Contemporary Calgary by September 15, 2021

  • at least 18 years old

  • nominated by two (2) fellow members of the society

We seek Directors who reflect the diversity of Calgary, who are passionate about the arts, and who have leadership in the following areas: art education, history, pedagogy or practice; communications; equity and inclusion; finance; fundraising; governance; project management; strategic planning; and law. 

Ideal candidates will share a passion to achieve Contemporary Calgary’s vision, be able to meet the time commitments of serving as a Director, provide stewardship of the organization and contribute to community engagement and fundraising.

Roles and Responsibilities 

The elected Board determines who will serve as Officers of the Society and who will serve on Board committees, which include: Finance & Audit; Governance, HR & Nominating; Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Accessibility; Fundraising; and Government Relations.

Directors are expected to attend 6 Board meetings per year and must serve on at least one committee of the board.
