Pokaiks: The Children — National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Join Pokaiks Reconciliation Society at Contemporary Calgary on September 30 for a day of community, culture, learning and reflection in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Now in its 10th year, Pokaiks’ annual gathering brings people together through Indigenous arts, culture and community programming, creating opportunities to learn, connect and take part in meaningful reconciliation.
The day begins with the annual Pokaiks Reconciliation Walk, departing from River Hall at 11:00 AM and making its way to Contemporary Calgary, followed by opening ceremonies.
From 1:00 PM, explore programming throughout the gallery, including an Indigenous artisan market, community organizations, live performances, Tipi Talks, Indigenous games, family activities, workshops, films and a drum circle. Visitors can also enjoy Indigenous food, food trucks and a coffee cart throughout the afternoon.
There will be opportunities for both participation and reflection, including a quiet area hosted by Calgary Public Library and a dedicated Elder’s Niche.
The afternoon will conclude with closing ceremonies at 5:00 PM.

Event Schedule
11:00 AM — Pokaiks Reconciliation Walk departs from River Hall ( 311 8 St SW next to the 10th Street Bridge ) ending at Contemporary Calgary.
11:00 AM–1:00 PM — Reconciliation Walk & Opening Ceremonies
1:00–5:00 PM — Performances, artisans, community organizations and family programming.
5:00–5:30 PM — Closing Ceremonies
