Opening Reception

The People’s Portrait Prize Opening Reception will be taking place in conjunction with FREE First Thursdays.
Awards Night
Thursday, December 8th
6:00-9:00 PM
Awards Night will be held at Contemporary Calgary in the grotto with remarks & awards beginning at 7 PM.
Bar and snacks will be available for purchase.

- Every visitor gets to submit one vote. We encourage you to visit all three locations (cSPACE, nvrlnd., Contemporary Calgary) before casting your vote.
- An anonymous work number will be assigned to each artwork for voting purposes.

Artists will have the choice to be considered for a ‘portrait artist of the year’ filming at Contemporary Calgary like the Sky network show from the UK.
NOTES!
We don’t know the volume of any given genre of work that we’ll receive. Therefore it will be decided at the end of the 27th which venue will be best suited for each piece.
So viewers will just have to go to all three locations to see!
PPP viewing is FREE to the public. Get portrait-ing, Calgary!
DETAILS
November 27: Drop off your artwork at Contemporary Calgary / 12:00-3:00 PM (701-11th St SW)
December 1: Opening Reception, public voting via ballot begins.
December 7: Public voting on anonymous work ends.
December 8: Awards Night / 6:00-9:00 PM
December 17: Pick up your work at Contemporary Calgary (701-11th St SW)
SUBMISSIONS
For Calgary and area artists only.
Any genre of work (Sculpture, painting, mixed, drawing, photography) is accepted as long as it fits the theme of human portraiture and can fit through a door.
Must be ready to hang with hardware if 2D. Non-compliant works will not be shown.
$10.00 for first submission, $5.00 for second. Cash only.
Works will go on sale with artist name and details after awards are given. 20% of sales will go to PPP in an honour system that will help ensure further shows and costs.
